What moves the price
For welded tubing, the drivers are diameter, length, grade, thread type, corrosion resistance, equipment fitment, tube diameter, steel grade — the spec them differently and the same item lands at either end of the band.
Published wholesale references for welded/mechanical tubing cluster around about $1,380-$1,430 per ton for ASTM A513 welded mechanical tubing and roughly $1,700-$1,800 per ton for ERW standard pipe, with stainless welded tubing much higher; converting tonnage prices to per-unit cost produces very low per-piece material costs for short lengths, so final unit price is driven mostly by cut length, OD/wall, grade, finish/coating, and fabrication steps rather than raw steel alone. Realistic supplier routes are U.S. master distributors and steel service centers for standard tube stock, or import/manufacturing platforms for custom fabricated or coated tubing; custom mounting, certification, and attached features can move a quote materially above commodity tube pricing.
